Haaaappy Mondaaaaaay and Summer Solstice Reader :)
The last weeks, I asked you what you wanted to know more about. What topics matter most as you're thinking about going nomadic.
And one question kept coming up over and over:
"Where should I actually go? Which destination is right for me?"
So I created something for you.
It's a complete breakdown of the best first-time nomad destinations: cost, visa requirements, internet quality, the actual vibe, what you'll spend per month, what to expect.
No fluff. Just the information you actually need to pick your first location.
But before you go read it, let me tell you what I've noticed about people who get stuck in the "picking a destination" phase.
The Real Problem (It's Not About Destinations)
Here's what I've noticed works:
1. Pick ONE Thing (Not Everything) Don't try to figure out your entire nomad life this week. Just pick one thing: research destinations, or test an income stream, or calculate your runway. One thing. That's it.
2. Set a Deadline "Sometime this month" doesn't work. "By Friday at 5pm" does. Give yourself a concrete deadline for one small action.
3. Make It Public (Tell Someone) It's easy to hide when no one knows. Tell a friend, post in a group, reply to this email, say what you're going to do. Social accountability is real.
4. Lower the Bar You don't need a perfect plan. You need a plan. Send one email. Research one city. Save one article. That counts.
5. Connect It to Your Why Don't just "go nomad." Connect it to what you actually want: freedom, family time, adventure, meaning. Keep that in mind when motivation dips.
6. Take the First Step This Week Not next month. This week. Something small. Anything that moves you forward.
A Practical Example: Picking Your First Nomad Destination
Let me give you a concrete place to start. One of the biggest blockers is: "Where do I even go?"
So let me help you narrow it down.
When choosing your first destination, consider:
- Cost (how far does your money go?)
- Visa (can you stay long enough?)
- Internet (can you actually work there?)
- Tribe (are there other nomads? Will you feel alone?)
Here are some solid first-time nomad destinations:
Southeast Asia:
- Bali, Indonesia (Ubud for quiet, Canggu for community) — Low cost, easy visa, great internet, huge nomad community
- Thailand (Chiang Mai, Koh Phangan, Krabi) — Ultra-affordable, friendly visa rules, solid internet, massive nomad scene everywhere
Eastern Europe:
- Bansko, Bulgaria — Cheap, good internet, growing nomad community (especially summer with Nomad Fest). Winter is cold but incredible for skiing.
- Tallinn, Estonia — Modern infrastructure, great internet, smaller nomad community, good for digital nomads
Southern Europe:
- Portugal (Lisbon, Porto) — Walkable cities, good internet, friendly nomads, slightly pricier but worth it
- Spain (Tarifa, Gran Canaria, south coast) — Beach vibes, nomad communities, affordable, great weather
Other Gems:
- Georgia (Tbilisi) — Incredibly cheap, excellent internet, growing nomad hub, unique vibe
- Cyprus (Larnaca, Paphos, Limassol) — Beach life, reliable community, good food, sunny year-round
- South Africa (Cape Town) — Adventure capital, vibrant community, diverse experiences, good infrastructure
Get the Full Guide
I've created a detailed Nomad Hotspots Guide with full breakdowns of cost, visa options, internet quality, best neighborhoods, what to expect, and what you'll actually spend per month.
Instead of overwhelming you with all that info here, I'm putting it in a Notion document you can bookmark and reference.
Your First Step This Week
Don't read the guide and then do nothing.
Read it. Pick ONE destination that calls to you. Then do ONE thing:
- Research flights
- Check visa requirements
- Join a Facebook group for that city
- Calculate how long your money would last there
Just one thing. That's it.
That's how you move from stuck to started.
Remember: Life Comes in Seasons
Not every season is an action season. Some are for resting. For gathering energy. That's important too.
But if you're feeling that nudge, that "something needs to change" feeling... that's your cue that it's time to move.
Don't ignore it. Act on it. Even if it's small.
What I Want For You This Week
You asked for this guide. I created it. Now it's your turn.
Pick one destination. Do one thing. Report back. You've got this.
Sending you so much love (and the reminder that you asked for this, now go use it),
Jess
P.S. What destination are you leaning toward? Hit reply and tell me. I want to know which one's calling to you.
